Why a Couples DTS?

What is a Couples DTS?

A Couples DTS is designed for exactly this. It’s for couples old or young (without children) who want to invest 5 months of their lives into their marriage and into God’s kingdom. This course has two parts: Classroom phase (12 weeks) and Outreach phase (8 weeks).

Classroom phase: We have some amazing topics waiting for you to dig into. Our speaker couples come from all over the world, covering a wide range of topics and bring in their own mission experience as a couple. Every class will give you time to process with your spouse what you have just learned. We’ll also give you a mentor couple at hand offering marriage coaching, accountability or just a listening ear!

• …and many more!

One special aspect of this Couples DTS is that we plan to have a few weeks of the Classroom phase IN the outreach location (South Asia)!  This means that you’ll get to not just learn about the people you’ll grow to love, you’ll get to learn FROM them in their own country! We’ll also make sure you have some language skills ready before you step on the plane.

Outreach phase: There’s no better way to make lasting changes than through putting into practice and telling others what you’ve learned! Jesus said “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to obey everything I commanded you.” During this time, you’ll be working with local believers, supporting local churches, sharing about Jesus, and helping run one or more marriage workshops together as a team.

Following outreach, we’ll spend a week back in Hainichen debriefing your time and setting goals and next steps. We’ll also be sure to celebrate all that God does in and through you!

Costs (per couple):

Classroom Phase : t.b.a. Some scholarships may be available to couples who come from developing nations.

Deposit to reserve your spot: 200,00 € (non-refundable - this goes toward your classroom phase fees)

Outreach Phase (in South Asia): 5,000 - 6,000 € (includes airfare to and from outreach location, local travel, accommodation, food)

(not included: personal expenses, travel insurance, visas or vaccinations)

Accommodation: On our campus in Hainichen, you will stay in our comfy bedrooms on site with shared bathrooms. On Outreach, this will look similar - but be ready for an adventure and some exceptions!

Your Course Leaders:

Doyl (USA) and Meike (Germany) will be your school leaders. Coming from completely different countries, cultures and family backgrounds, they have seen and experienced both how challenging and rewarding a marriage can be. 

After meeting and getting married on the mission field in South Asia 12 years ago, they worked with refugees in Hamburg before joining YWAM Hainichen in 2022. Together with their three children they love adventures - and just came back from staffing a Couples DTS in the Caribbean! They have a heart for seeing couples find their own identity and calling and have also become trained as marriage coaches.
