Finances
As an independent association, we are not part of any church or state institution. Our work is only possible because we have a large circle of private donors and sponsors behind us who support our cause - whether it be personnel costs, ongoing expenses or construction projects. In addition to donations, our association occasionally receives public funding for selected and mostly temporary projects.
At YWAM, no one receives a salary from the financial resources provided to the mission agency for general purposes or projects. Salaries are funded from direct donations through personal networks of friends and supporters. Each staff member takes responsibility independently to provide this income, not the centers or ministry leaders.
In order to release staff members for missionary service tasks and to provide for their livelihood as missionaries, home churches, friends or family of staff members contribute financially to our mission.
Excerpts From Our History
In 1993, after completing a family discipleship school, five families from the YWAM center in Hurlach/Bavaria, led by Andreas & Angela Frész, moved to East Germany (the former socialist part) to set up a new YWAM base there, just a few year after the reunification. After an intensive search, in January 1994 a suitable object for youth and family work and the construction of a training and recreation center for families was found. A 1.8 hectare park-like property in Hainichen/Saxony with several buildings, including a villa. Since then, renovation and development of the property have been ongoing tasks.
From the very beginning, the main focus was on family ministries and the children and youth work of King's Kids. Camps for children, teens and families, as well as special training programs for teen leaders and families, influenced many Christians, especially in the East German states.
In 2002, on the initiative and under the direction of Ruth Frank, the Christian Kindergarten "Springbrunnen" along with its own supporting association, the "Springbrunnen eV" was founded. In the public day-care center, up to 51 children from families from Hainichen and the surrounding area are cared for.
In the spring of 2007, the TRUST ropes course was opened on our premises, which belonged to the network of the international ropes course ministries of YWAM. Today the facility is operated by an external company - Wegvisor Chemnitz - and occasionally used by us for our own programs during the season.
The building “Haus Neuland” was completed in 2016. In this building with its spacious rooms, our project "Werkstatt Familie” found its place, a family center that's open to families from Hainichen and the region.
With our training programs we are campus location of the international University of the Nations (UofN) and location of the UofN College of Family Studies. We offer Discipleship Training School (DTS) and have conducted various UofN courses including Family Ministry School (FMS), Family Discipleship Training School (F-DTS) and School of Administration (SOA). Every other year we offer the School of Foundation in Family Studies (FSS), a bilingual (en/de) three-month full-time course.
