Right in the Heart of Europe!
Our base is located in Hainichen, a small town in the state of Saxony, between Dreden and Chemnitz. Before 1990 Saxony was part of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR), also known as East Germany. The Saxonian region and the neighboring regions are very interesting places for people who take an interest in nature or history. Ancient towns, castles and palaces are found everywhere and attract visitors from all over the world. The world famous city of Dresden is only a 30 minutes drive away from Hainichen and the nature reserve called "Elbsandsteingebirge" , the Ore Mountains and the Bohemian mountains can be reached by car within an hour as well and invite for recreation and extended hikes.
Culture and history
The region of and around Saxony is closely connected with names like Martin Luther and Johann Sebastian Bach.
Dresden is well known for its Semper Opera, possibly the most famous opera house in all of Germany. Another interesting building is the Frauenkirche of Dresden – a church that has only recently been rebuilt and stands as a symbol of forgiveness and reconciliation between Germany and Britain.
A little further away, but still within reach you would find places like Berlin, Prague, Halle, Weimar and Erfurt or the small town of Herrnhut where the well known Moravian missionaries originated.
